My name is Julius Coppola past chairman of our Capital Improvements from 2004 to 2016. My background has been in structural concrete since 1956 with our family business evolving into contracting and consulting on projects for IBM, West Point Military Academy, along with many manufacturing facilities, airport touchdown zones and tarmac’s etc.  and I am writing this review after many successful years of having the pleasure of having Islandia successfully handle all of our needs at Tropic Harbor located at 800 Tropic Isle, Delray Beach, FL.

Our complex is located on a harbor off of the intercoastal with 224 units located in seven 4 story reinforced concrete buildings, a club house with two concrete pools surrounded with pavers and a two-story office building. The complex was permitted in 1969 along with 162 concrete carports. It was found, upon taking over, that all major maintenance had been ignored and upon investigation all structural items as well as cosmetic were in front of us to be corrected……enter ISLANDIA.

WE called on all their talents:
 Painting
 Concrete restoration
 Waterproofing
 Structural steel restoration
 Electrostatic painting
 Complete and massive seawall restoration, with all necessary permitting and adherence to all environmental protections
 Along with basically anything that was asked of them, like providing bentonite mix for sink holes behind the seawall.

ALL PROJECTS, over the years, completed successfully, on time and on or under approved budgets!!!

I have included a very brief synopsis of my background to portray my understanding of what was required of the contractor and work required to be completed.  I would very highly recommend Islandia and all their staff for any or all the above- mentioned talents for your projects.

As a member of the board of the Vizcaya Condominium association for over 20 years and  President for 11 years, I have had the opportunity to communicate and work closely with a variety of vendors in the maintenance of our Condominium.   Far and away from all of the vendors we work with, Islandia is consistently the most competent company that we have worked with.

Regardless of what the issue is, the Islandia staff has the experience and equipment to complete the current work, on time and at the quoted price.  Being situated in the  Pompano Beach area for many years has made the company extremely familiar with the needs of our entire community of over 7,500 doors.

It is with great confidence that I write this letter of reference for Gary Blackledge, General Contractor, and owner of Islandia. I had the privilege of working with Gary on many comprehensive renovations. I can state without reservation that he is an outstanding professional whose expertise in residential condo work sets him and his company apart from the competition. Condominium construction requires not only technical skill but also a deep understanding of building codes, structural limitations, HOA regulations, and neighbor considerations. Islandia navigated all of these with remarkable competence and professionalism. They coordinated seamlessly with building management and the homeowners’ association to secure approvals, schedule work around building quiet hours, and ensure compliance with all community and municipal regulations.

The scope of work that Islandia did for us was from detecting and repairing problematic leaks all the way to a major roof, concrete, and pool replacement. Each stage was completed on time, within projected budget, and with meticulous attention to detail. The quality of workmanship—especially in the finish tilework was exceptional. Islandia also stands behind the work. Anytime we found anything that needed to be refinished or replaced, Islandia came out and either fixed it or replaced it without question or hesitation.

What impressed me most was Gary’s unwavering commitment to communication, service, and client satisfaction. He provided regular updates, quickly addressed questions, and handled unexpected challenges with resourcefulness and integrity. This level of transparency and responsiveness gave me complete peace of mind throughout the process. Not every project goes as planned especially when you find problems that are laying beneath items not originally covered in the scope of the quote. Gary is the first one to call you, bring the issue to you attention and then give you both options and advice. He understands the problem from both the client’s perspective and from an added cost perspective.

Residential condo projects can be uniquely challenging, but Islandia excelled in every aspect: expert craftsmanship, compliance, project management, and neighbor relations.
